Following several leaks of the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and its new look, we’re finally getting a peek a that base Galaxy Watch 8 with new renders hitting the web.
The folks over at Android Headlines have published a set of official-looking renders of the Galaxy Watch 8 series, offering a first look at the design of the base Galaxy Watch 8. While the Classic’s design is clearly based off of last year’s Ultra, the base Watch 8 is a strange amalgamation of the two looks.
This watch has a circular display, but with the frame forming a gentler “squircle” shape compared to Samsung’s larger Watch 8 Classic and Watch Ultra. The base Galaxy Watch 8 only has limited amounts of the frame extending past the display, and still only has two buttons on the right side as well.
We’ve already seen this design in the past through software leaks, but this is our first look at how it appears in “real life.” Personally, I’m not a huge fan.

The report goes on to reiterate that Galaxy Watch 8 is expected to have two size options, but Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is only expected to offer one. The report also shows the Classic with a black and silver look, as well as a new blue variant of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It’s unclear if anything has changed with the new Ultra beyond its colorway, though.
Samsung is expected to launch Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic next month.
What do you think of the new design?
