The fitness wearable for dogs is getting an upgrade with AI behavior detection. The Fi Series 3+ cmart collar will give pet owners better insight into what their dog has been doing while providing stronger and faster GPS tracking.
Fi isn’t new to the smart collar industry, and the company has no relation to Google Fi. The Series 2 collar was one of the biggest steps in GPS collars and has created a strong following for pet owners who want to get better insight into their dog’s health stats with a dedicated health tracker.
The Fi Series 3+ is a more capable version of the Series 3 collar, which debuted last year. According to Fi, the Series 3+ is equipped with proprietary trained AI to detect certain behavioral patterns in dogs as they wear the GPS collar. The collar will now be able to track barking, licking, scratching, eating, and drinking. The AI will be able to pick out trends in addition to actions, which allows the owner to detect changes in activity.

The Series 3+ will get a GPS upgrade, too. Fi says that the new GPS has twice the signal sensitivity for more accurate location tracking. Fi’s collars use a cell signal, which can be pricey but offers more reliable tracking in certain situations. With the company’s Android app, it’s easy to keep tabs on pets wherever they are.
With the AI upgrade, Fi hopes to make vet visits more seamless. A history of the dog’s activity over time will provide better insight into health trends, which could prevent issues before they become serious.
The Fi Series 3+ is sold as a subscription at $14/month and comes out to around $168 every year. Fi notes that more behavior tracking features will be added over time.
