Android 16 QPR1 Beta redesigns Quick Settings on Pixel

With Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1, Google is redesigning Quick Settings on Pixel with resizable tiles and a background blur.

For the most part, Quick Settings have remained the same since the Android 12 redesign. The fully expanded interface gives you eight large Tiles arranged in a 2×4 arrangement. Since that initial release, Google introduced the ability to expand some QS Tiles for inline controls, while other buttons have been moved around.

Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1’s full Quick Settings panel starts with an updated Brightness slider that makes use of a rectangular Material You container with a prominent handle bar.

When inactive, QS Tiles are pill-shaped with the main icon housed in a circle. Enabling morphs them into rounded rectangles, as well as squares.

Meanwhile, Tiles are now resizable, with users able to shrink them to take up half the space without the text label. Tap them to drag the slider.

Google has now grouped available QS Tiles into: Connectivity, Utilities, Display, Privacy, Accessibility, From system apps, and From apps you installed. You get a “Reset” button at the very bottom.

Meanwhile, the notification shade adds prominent, pill-shaped buttons for history, “Clear all,” and alert preferences. Like Quick Settings, the background is now blurred.
