NotebookLM Audio Overviews coming to 50+ languages

Google is now bringing NotebookLM’s Audio Overviews to over 50 languages after previously only supporting English.

This includes Afrikaans, Hindi, Turkish, and more. In NotebookLM, tap the settings gear icon in the top-right corner for a new “Output language” menu, which has been in the works since last month.

Afterwards, NotebookLM chat responses and Audio Overviews will be generated in your preferred language. When the podcast-esque capability launched in September, it was just available in English. Google touts how this lets you “create multilingual content or study materials as needed.”

For example: “a teacher preparing a lesson on the Amazon rainforest can share resources in various languages — like a Portuguese documentary, a Spanish research paper and English study reports — with their students. The students can upload these and can generate an Audio Overview of key insights in their preferred language. This capability breaks down language barriers and makes the information more accessible to everyone.”

Behind-the-scenes, Gemini’s native audio support is credited as making this possible.

This is an early look at what’s possible with this feature — we plan to keep building and refining it based on your feedback.
